We had so much fun last weekend at our friends Justin and Megan's wedding. The reception was a blast. It was held at Will Rogers Theatre....such a neat venue! Carolina danced the night away. She was out there for a good 2 hours, squealing with delight. She danced, galloped, skipped, ran, turned circles, and shook her booty to her hearts content! She had a ball.

We are so proud of Gavy Gav and the rest of the STEAL team. These little guys are on fire. They have yet to have a tball practice. And the are kicking some tail in machine pitch as well. We have another state tourney this weekend, and then the WORLD SERIES in July!

I tell ya what.....We have some SERIOUS hair at our house. I'm ever so grateful my beautiful daughter did not get my straight and stringy hair. I was shocked as I waited and waited for her hair to change color and for her eyes to STAY blue, but alas...the eyes changed, the hair did not! I think I was a bit bummed that I didn't have the blonde haired blue eyed daughter I just knew I would have....but I'm so glad she is who she is. She has some gorgeous locks! Her hair is the color of her daddy's (when he had hair). It's getting lighter and lighter...just a gorgeous brunette. I'm so incredibly happy that she got the curls from Daddy's side. I was stressed about having to do little girl hair.....I can't even get my own hair to do what I want! :) Carolina's hair needs water....and after you see these pics, you'll see why we ALWAYS need a bow!

Let's see.......

Wesley is really getting into his golf now that he isn't in baseball anymore. Daddy has him signed up for 5 JCGTournaments this summer. He is going to be just like his daddy and make the golf course his second home. Wesley is doing well in third grade. He doesn't like to read much and does just the minimum to get by with that, but he is very smart and exceeds in everything he does. He's been doing fact masters and completed many levels of addition and subtraction.

Gavin is loving Skyview and has become quite the social butterfly. When we walk in the school doors in the morning in is greeting everyone he sees....and usually by name. He has been getting to go the "treasure box" at school alot lately. He even got chosen to play kickball with the principal b/c he was doing the right thing in class when others weren't! :) Gavin also made the local newspaper. He had to dress up like a 100 yr old man for 100 day celebration in his class. He, just like his brother, is very smart. He's been reading books to me left and right, without any help!

Carolina.....WOW! She's just a little go-getter. She has octopus hands and is into everything! She has now figured how to climb up on just about anything in our house! She is a pistol...she runs so fast, half the time I cant' catch her! She is talking like crazy and still loves to sing songs. We listen to a little CD on the way to school every morning called "Bullfrogs and Butterflies". It's a kids christian music CD. She will just all of sudden one day burst out in one of the songs and sing along at the top of her lungs. She signs please so much now....we are working on Thank you. She used to say it all the time...but now she forgets the thanks! :) She has also started joining in on asking the blessing with us before each meal. It is adorable.

At the doctor today she weighed 24.7lbs and was 31 in. long. I really thought she was pretty short for her age (16 months), but both the nurse and doctor commented on her being a "tall" little girl.

I'm a rambler, sorry. I just talk on and on, with no regard for paragraph formation, etc. Oh well, deal with it! It's my blog! :)

My husband who irritates me to no end and keeps me on my toes, but reminds me I'm married to a wonderful man (most of the time)! :)

My two boys, who drive me to drinkin' with their arguing, but remind me I'm a mother (by chance) of two wonderful boys.

My daughter who never lets me sit, but reminds me what true love is. She is the biggest joy of my life!

My parents, who still treat me like a child sometimes, but remind me how much I am loved. They also remind me of what true sacrifice is.....they have giving so much of themselves to help me.

My younger brother, who reminds me to chill!

My older brother, who reminds me how happy I am to be OUT of highschool! UGH!

My niece and nephews, who remind me how strong you can be when adversity comes your way.

My friends, true friends that keep me together and have saved me millions of $ by being my shrinks and having dinner dates with adult beverages.

Anyone that knows my dad and his brothers knows that there will be little to NO picutres taken in their presence! We tried to have a Surprise party for Daddy.....the surprise part didn't work out so much, b/c he is a workoholic. Anyway, this is all I have...but it does verify the party did happen! :) Grumpy is 70...although he doesn't look or at OLD at all!!! He is the best Daddy around and the coolest Grumpy! He would give his left arm for anyone....hell, he did! hahahh! We all love his guts!

So I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. I just put Carolina to sleep....and as I rocked her I looked down in amazement. I cannot believe a year has passed since she brightened up our world! What a difference a year makes. Our lives were full and busy a year ago....or so I thought. Then, we were blessed with this beautiful life. Being a wife and mommy was my lifelong dream. I have treasured every minute of my little one's life. Carolina is sheer perfection. She is a complete joy. If I'm having a bad day at work, I call mom and "talk" to Carolina, and I can make it through the day. Mom has been so good at bringing her up to see me often. My mom got to stay home with Ryan and I.....she worked until I was 6 months old. I think she really understands how hard it is on me to be away from her. If staying home was an option (and I'm searching every day to find a way) I'd be the first to sign up!!!!

Carolina came in this world quickly. She scared us a bit, but once she was here she had us captivated. I remember everyday of our hospital stay. The smile she gave the first night, how strong this little preemie was...she could lift her head the 2nd day. She had NO problems latching on...she was a pro from the first time on! I remember the sadness I felt when she had to be in the lights for jaundice.....I felt so helpless as she laid in there in just her diaper and screaming. I can't tell you how many times I just had to pick her up and hold her during those sessions. I was so lucky to be able to take 3 months off with her. That was my saving grace I think. I would have been an absolute basketcase otherwise! I have never enjoyed time at home quite like that...just quiet moments with this new little life. I had dreamed of this all my life. She was an answer to prayers....many, many times over. She has far exceeded those prayers by being better than I could have ever imagined!

She is now a girl with a personality...not a "milk/toast" girl for sure. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to let you know...just like her mama. She is talking so much, singing, walking, mimicking, just so dang cute! She says: mama, dada, bubba, light, byebye, HI, tick-tick, dog, go, nite-nite, cow, duck, OOOOOO-U, YEAH! and more

She sings (some words) and does the motions for: Row, row, row your boat, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Pat-a-cake, Head and Shoulders, OOOOO-U (ya know the kick off yell!)
She also: Loves to wrinkle up her nose and breath real heavy...she knows she's cute, Say hi to everyone that walks by, when the phone rings anywhere....any ring, she puts her hand up and says, "HI"!, she takes kleenex and spits her lips, like she's blowing her nose, gets into EVERYTHING, looks you straight in the eye when you tell her NO and does it over and over (Lord help us!), climbs like a monkey, moos like a cow, barks like a dog, meows like a cat (the cutest sounds EVER!), growls like a tiger (the most evil sound EVER!), she gives the best hugs ever, she has daddy wrapped with her little "pucker" lip.

She loves: Baths, green beans, bananas, eggs, canteloupe, watermelon, Mickey Mouse, Barney, Moonie & Grumpy, her brothers, Daddy, Mama (of course), filling buckets with toys and them dumping them out again, dumping our DVD cabinet, her binky, hugs, glasses, music...especially the song daddy wrote for her, cell phones, and keys

I could go on for days, and days about her. She is the light of my life. She has made life so much sweeter and at times more bareable! :) She has stolen all of our hearts. I just wish time would stand still for awhile...or just slow down a bit, but I can't wait to see what this next year holds!

Carolina is a daddy's girl "fo sho"! She can't get enough of her daddy....she follows him everywhere. She is at such a cute age. She wants everything you have...drink, food, magazine, newspaper, ball....whatever is in your hand, she assumes is hers as well. She took a few steps last month, but hasn't really been interested since. This weekend Jonas, Carolina and I were by ourselves (the boys were at their moms) and we had a ball all weekend. She played and played, went to the fair, and WALKED AND WALKED! She is loving it too. I'm going to have to figure out or camcorder so I can catch her on something other than my cell phone! :)

This is what I feel like doing this week.....just screaming...AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

We have had a heck of a week. School has started and always brings its own issues...new class, new kiddos....trying to figure it all out. Then, last Thursday Gavin was home sick and Wesley broke his pinky at school. What a mess. Gavin ended up feeling better and went to school on Friday. We had a tball tourney then on Sat/Sun. Gavin was kinda stopped up and had a really stiff neck. We thought he had just slept on his neck wrong.....he'd been sleeping on a pillow that would have caused it. Sunday it got worse and his mother ended up taking him the the ER on Monday. Well, they wanted to do a spinal tap to rule out meningitis...YIKES!! I was just sick thinking about this poor child having to go through all this. They got it done and he did great. He came home. He couldn't walk AT ALL!!! Poor thing was just doubled over in pain from his back!!! The next night he went back to Michelle's so she could take him to the dr the next day for a follow up and he started throwing up and was having HORRID headaches. Michelle took Gavin to Children's ER. They basically think that it may have been viral meningitis and he's over it. His headachs are called spinal cord headaches from the tap and are supposedly horrendous to endure.....especially for a 5 year old. Anyway....he's still stopped up, yucky, and weak so Carolina and I are staying with Moonie and Grumpy for now. It's easier on us anyway so we don't have to drive back and forth. Now daddy is sick too......I may never go back! :)

9 month check up..

No pics...sorry. We went for our 9month check up Wednesday. Dr. says Carolina is PERFECT....of course, we knew that. She was 19.1 lbs and 26 1/2 inches long. She's getting so big and is soo much fun. She started saying "duck" this past week....doesn't do it "on command", but she sure is cute! :)

I've been trying to get pics of Carolina's first two teeth. They came in at the same time way back in March, but everytime I try to get a picture of it...she sticks her tongue over them! :) She's having a fun time with her teeth. This weekend I was helping Gavin put something together on the floor and she was rolling around next to us. All of a sudden I felt a pain in my big toe.....Carolina was biting my toe!! YUCKK!!!! She's a mess....and thought this was totally hilairious!! :) Here are pics of her teefers finally!

WOW, how things change with food!!! hahhah!

I was on the search and couldn't find anything cute in 0-3 months....Even though Carolina was 5.5 months at Easter! :) She's still a little squirt! We have moved up to 3-6 months outfits now though. We're growing...just slowly.

4month checkup

We were a little late on this check up. We have all had the "yuckies", so I wanted us all better before Carolina had to go get more shots. It just wouldn't be fair to go in feeling yucky and have to have shots on top of that. :(

These shots were the same series we got at 2 months, but she reacted much worse this time. She has been inconsolable today! :( It's has been hard to find a way to hold her so her little sweet legs aren't hurting. She is finally asleep and with the help of our friend "Mr. Tylenol".....hopefully will sleep well tonight. I think I may need to take some tylenol as well!! She was so happy before the shots. She loves to scream and hear herself! It's absolutely the best sound...as long as it's the "happy" scream! :)

She weighs 14 lbs now...I was really thinking 15, but not quite there yet. She is also 23 in long. She's still a shorty, but hey, she's grown 6 inches!! hah! Of course, I still think she hung the moon. She is my amazing blessing. I still get teary-eyed watching her some days. She has been my dream for so long, sometimes I still need a "pinch", to realize she is really here....corny I know, but soo true!

Don't have any new pics downloaded, so here is our most recent "FAMILY" pic. This trip to the studio was supposed to be for Carolina's 3 month picture. She was fine when we took these family pics, but when it was her turn for some "solo" shots...she threw the biggest hissyfit!!! Therefore, these will be the only 3 month pics. We will try again at 6 months and see if she decides to cooperate then! :)

I'm so sad my baby girl has to get shots this week!!! :( I'm really not looking forward to it! My mom and Jonas are going with me, b/c I don't think I'll be able to handle it. I went with a friend of mine to have her daughter's done when I was 19 and absolutely lost it. No fun at all!!! She is getting so big. She figured out how to scream today. I thought she was crying and went to check on her and she was just as content as could be....screaming like a little girlie. It really was cute...she was having a ball with it! My 1st Tgiving!

We had an eventful day as always. This year my family had our Tgiving dinner at my brother and sister in laws in Norman. Everything was very nice...they did a great job on all the food. I'm sure my mother appreciated not having to cook the whole *shebang* this year....although I have to admit, it wasn't quite Tgiving for me b/c it wasn't at my mom's with all her tradiotional dishes. Oh well, Christmas is right around the corner.

Carolina had a good time being oogled over and passed around at Tgiving lunch with my family and dinner w/the inlaws (which is always interesting). She was plum tuckered out once she wound down. I finally got her to sleep about midnight, but she didn't wake up until 5:50a.m.!! WHOOHOOO!!! Mama got some well deserved sleep!!! :) She's slowly, but surely, sleeping more and more. It freaks me out sometimes...well no, ALL the time! I'm constantly checking to see if she's still breathing! :)

We are all very blessed and have much for which to be thankful!
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

They weren't exactly what I wanted, but ya know, she's just so dang cute...I bought them anyway! :) There are more, but I haven't scanned them yet. Luckily I have a wonderful friend who is quite talented with the camera that has offered to come play and take some pics. I need to get some cute shots of her to make up some announcements. Gracious, she's a month old and I still don't have that done yet!!!
Oh well....she'll just be "announced" late! :) Look for one in a mailbox near you, soon!!!

1st Halloween

Well... we are still too little for everything in our closet....still wearing preemie clothes. I had bought this pumpkin onesie before Carolina was born and I was bound and determined to see her in it on Halloween. It was HUGE on her, but she wore it for awhile anyway.....she was in a festive mood! hahah! Enjoy!

We are pretty close to being finished. A special thanks to the ever-so-talented Icenhower girls for all the bedding and curtains, and Aunt Nat for rearranging the room and adding so many great things....(i.e. letters, shelves, etc, etc....)

Carolina Bleu Sikes came into this world in a whirlwind of excitement. After being in labor (WITHOUT pain meds....not my choice) from 5pm to midnight. Miss Carolina decided she had had enough and let her blood pressure start dropping with each of mommy's contractions. Finally the dr arrived and decided the best this was for a csection! AMEN FOR HIM! Being in labor without meds was NO FUN!!! I'm still suffering from the aftershocks of back labor....by far some of the worst pain I have ever felt...so props to the women who go "all natural"....but YOU ARE CRAZY!!! :) Spinal drugs ARE MY FRIEND!!

Carolina is absoutely TINY! The hospital finally went and bought some preemie diapers....and even those fall off her little hiney! She is a true girly girl....a closet full of clothes and NOTHING to wear! Seriously NOTHING fits her. Mom and another friend went and bought out all the preemie outfits that they could find! She's all set now....now we just need a place to go to show them off! :)

We are all home and doing great! She is absolutely perfect....an angel. She has her days and nights mixed up a bit right now, but hopefully we can get that changed soon!! Mama needs her sleep.

Think GREASE II!!!

Yes, I'm losing it. I'm a little on the freaked out side b/c I'm going to have a baby 5 days!!!!! Holy Moly!! As much experience as I have had with babies and kids in general, I don't think it ever prepares you for having a brand new life in your care....your responsibility. I know everything will be fine, I guess it's just the anticipation of it all.

I keep having dreams about delivery, about how I get to the hospital, what she looks like, etc. I just have a feeling this little one has red hair...we'll see shortly. Who knows. I had coal black hair when I was born, then changed to brown, to toe-head blonde. It's just so exciting. I want to see myself and Jonas in her...pick out what traits she has of each of us. Just amazing to me to think about it all.

I have had a whirlwind the last 5 years.

2002-
I quit my fulltime good paying job, went back to school, and ended a 7 year relationship...best decision EVAR!!

2004
turned 30, graduated from college...finally, got a job, and met back up with the man I always said I would marry

2005
got engaged, (got custody of kiddos), got married, became a mommy, got pregnant, had a miscarriage with twins

2007
got pregnant with a precious baby GIRL and now here we are!! Whoa!

I just am looking forward to some quiet time with this precious new life that I have dreamed about all my life.
